Country music legend, Emmy-winning actress, and cultural icon Reba McEntire is officially back on set for the second season of her hit NBC sitcom Happy’s Place. Fans are buzzing with excitement, not only for the show’s humor and heartwarming storylines but also for the unique dynamic this season brings: Reba working alongside her fiancé, veteran actor Rex Linn.
Since its October 2024 debut, Happy’s Place has won over audiences with its blend of small-town charm, quirky humor, and heartfelt moments.
The series follows Reba’s character, Bobbie, who unexpectedly inherits a beloved Knoxville tavern after her father’s passing.

Bobbie navigates the challenges of running the tavern while managing a colorful and unconventional staff:
-
Gabby (Melissa Peterman), the endlessly upbeat bartender
-
Emmett (Rex Linn), the gruff yet kind-hearted kitchen veteran
-
Isabella (Belissa Escobedo), Bobbie’s estranged half-sister
-
Steve (Pablo Castelblanco), the charming and ambitious barback
-
Takoda (Takala Black Elk), the sharp-tongued, quick-witted server
The ensemble’s chemistry, combined with Reba’s comedic timing and warmth, quickly made Happy’s Place a Friday-night favorite.
Romance On Screen — and in Real Life
Season 1 subtly teased the chemistry between Bobbie and Emmett, delighting fans with lingering glances, awkward moments, and unresolved tension.
Season 2 picks up right where viewers hoped, opening with Bobbie and Emmett sharing their first kiss — a milestone that ignited social media buzz. Their first official date follows soon after, delivering sweet, authentic moments that capture the joy and delightful awkwardness of new romance.

Yet, as in any sitcom worth its salt, there’s more beneath the surface. Emmett harbors secrets connected to Bobbie’s half-sister Isabella, promising to complicate their budding romance and add depth to the season’s storyline.
These plotlines keep fans engaged, balancing both comedic and dramatic arcs. Reba says the on-screen chemistry is heightened by her real-life relationship with Rex Linn.
“Working with Rex is really special,” she told the TODAY show. “We know each other so well after all these years, both personally and professionally. He’s a workaholic and loves to rehearse — I’m more spontaneous — but he keeps me on track. We have a blast together. It’s wonderful to go to work with someone you love and then come home together.”
The pair’s friendship spans over three decades, making their collaboration both natural and heartfelt.

Their first collaboration was in 1991 on The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw, and they later appeared together in projects such as The Hammer (2023) and ABC’s Big Sky (2022).
