Shauna Darcy, a young girl who suffers from panic attacks, found solace in her service dog, Ruby. This adorable and intelligent pit bull quickly understood how to assist her new mom.
Ruby’s dedication to helping Shauna became apparent during her training as a service dog. She exhibited peculiar behavior in response to changes in Shauna’s heart rate. Ruby would gently touch her with her paw or attempt to climb onto her.
Recognizing this unusual behavior, Shauna consulted a doctor who discovered a previously unknown heart condition. Remarkably, Ruby had sensed something was wrong with her owner even before the medical examination.
Now, Ruby monitors Shauna’s heart rate and blood pressure on a daily basis. She also provides support during panic attacks and even retrieves medication when needed. Ruby’s deep pressure therapy involves applying her weight to Shauna’s body, helping equalize pressure and aid in her recovery from unconsciousness.
Last week, Shauna felt unwell, and Ruby’s concerns prompted her to call an ambulance just in time. Shauna was experiencing atrial fibrillation, and thanks to Ruby’s alertness, the medical professionals were able to provide timely assistance.
Even in the hospital, Ruby refused to leave Shauna’s side. She remained by her side in the hospital bed, providing warmth and comfort, reminding her that she was not alone.
Shauna is immensely grateful for Ruby’s unwavering care, stating that she would not have survived without her loyal companion.
