In Harlow, Essex, a farm is home to a daily ritual where horses graze in a pasture adjacent to a forest, and each day, a young orphaned deer emerges from the woods to join them.

The deer frolics with a particular horse and her foal, seemingly regarding them as his own kin.

Notably, another horse displays great affection towards the deer, further cementing the bond between them.

Chinara Dzhumanalieva, the photographer behind these heartwarming photographs, visited the pasture repeatedly to witness the friendship unfold.

According to Dzhumanalieva, the horse embraces the deer, cares for him, and even grooms him as if he were her own foal.

“This is a young male wild fallow deer. I am unaware of what happened to his mother, but he has been seen alone for quite some time, and the horses have become his new family. They have ‘adopted’ him,” explains the photographer.

The deer arrives from the forest each morning and spends the day in the pasture with the horses until evening.

Given that the foal and fawn appear to be of similar age, they delight in playful companionship.

“One day, as I watched them, a passerby with a dog walked past the field, and the barking startled the deer. He leaped toward the horse, and she shielded him with her body, evidently seeking to protect him from any harm.”

“Their relationship is absolutely remarkable. The first time I witnessed this, I realized I had never seen anything quite like it. Anyone who views these photos will understand the extraordinary bond they share.”
