A cat and a rat have formed an unexpected bond after the rat was saved from becoming snake food.

An unlikely friendship blossomed between a cat and a rat after the rodent was rescued from being snake food.

The male rat, named Cooper, was among several rats being sold in a pet store. It was a heartbreaking sight for Pauline Maureen, who noticed a sign on their cage that read, “To feed the snakes.” Determined to save them, she decided to purchase the entire cage of culled animals that nobody wanted as pets.

Once home, as one of the rats ventured out of the cage and onto the sofa, Pauline’s cat, Prudence, became curious. Prudence herself had been rescued from the streets a few years prior and had likely encountered rodents before. However, to everyone’s surprise, she showed no aggression towards the rat.

Instead, Prudence approached the rat, nestled next to it, and began grooming it affectionately as if it were her own offspring. The bond between the cat and rat grew stronger each day.

Now inseparable, Prudence and Cooper spend a significant amount of time together, enjoying each other’s company. Pauline couldn’t be happier witnessing their unlikely friendship unfold.
